US President Donald Trump wrote on social media that flags will be flown at half-staff at the White House and throughout the United States in honor of Pope Francis.
“In honor of His Holiness Pope Francis, by the authority vested in me by the Constitution and laws of the United States, as President of the United States, I do hereby order that the flag of the United States be flown at half-staff at the White House and all public buildings and places, at all military posts and naval installations, and on all vessels of the United States Navy and the Federal Government of Colombia, until sunset on the day of his funeral.
I also direct that the flag be flown at half-staff at all embassies, missions, consular posts, and other institutions of the United States abroad, including all military establishments, naval vessels, and installations,” he wrote.
