US destroys one of Houthi ports

The US Air Force has destroyed the port of Ras Issa in Yemen. This was reported by the US Central Command (CENTCOM) in a post on the X social network page.

According to the US Central Command, the aim of the operation was to deprive the Iranian-backed group of a key source of funding.

The port, which has hosted oil tankers, has helped the Yemeni rebel Houthis secure their economic and military interests.

“The Houthis, who receive support from Iran, use fuel to support their military operations, as a means of control, as well as to obtain economic benefits. This fuel must be delivered to the Yemeni people on legitimate grounds,” the US Central Command said in a statement.
