Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has announced that Donald Trump has accepted her invitation to pay an official visit to Rome.
Meloni said that Trump's visit could occur "shortly" and would allow him to meet with other European leaders. "My goal is to make the West great again," he said.
The Italian prime minister visited the United States to meet with President Trump. In the Oval Office, Trump praised Meloni, saying she was "doing a fantastic job" and "capturing Europe." Trump also added that Meloni had become his friend.
Trump and Meloni expressed confidence in resolving the EU-US trade dispute.
"I am confident that we can reach an agreement, and I am here to support that process," Meloni said before the talks.
Trump said that an announcement on trade agreements would be made, but he did not see a need to rush. "We will have no problem reaching an agreement with Europe or any other party because we have what everyone wants," he added.
