US Vice President J. D. Vance criticized Volodymyr Zelensky for saying Vance justified Vladimir Putin's actions.
Vance said that he had been condemning Russia since 2022, but since then, he has been trying to understand the strategic goals of both sides.
"I've tried to use strategic perception: if you want the conflict to end, you must try to understand both sides' strategic goals. This does not mean that you morally support Russia's goals or a large-scale invasion, but you have to try to understand where their strategic red lines are, and you also have to try to understand Ukraine's goals in this conflict.
Vance emphasized that Zelensky's statement that we are somehow on the side of the Russians is a little absurd.
In an interview with CBS, Zelensky said the vice president seemed to justify Putin's actions.
