Turkey ready to play a role in Russian-Ukrainian reconciliation

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan discussed the Russia-Ukraine conflict in an interview. He noted that the call for reconciliation is of great importance: “Its acceptance by the US, Ukraine, and Europe is a positive step.”

Despite the difficulties, Fidan expressed confidence that positive changes would occur if there were political will. He emphasized that both sides have suffered significant losses, which they will realize after the end of the war. “If the negotiations are based on sanctions, not war, it will open a new direction.”

Speaking about Turkey’s role, Fidan noted: “If we have to play a role in maintaining peace acceptable to both sides, we are ready, but both sides must agree.”
