"Turkey does not want conflict in the region." Fidan

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has stated that Turkey does not want to conflict with any country in the region. "We cannot allow Syria to once again find itself in an internal conflict, military action, or provocations that threaten Turkey's national security. We will not remain a mere observer," he warned.

Turning to the question of whether Turkey is going to expand its military presence in Syria, Fidan noted: "Syria can indeed overcome its many problems with Turkey's support. We have the intention, the capabilities, and, finally, the vision."

He stressed that Turkey is naturally inclined to support Syria in areas where it is needed. "We are open to any issue that will meet our security assessments and threats and will contribute to bilateral cooperation in the region," the minister added.

Fidan noted that after the fall of Bashar Assad's regime, Israel destroyed all the infrastructure used by the Syrian regular army. "Israel has developed a strategy that leaves nothing for the new leadership and armed forces, and it is gradually implementing this strategy," he said. At the same time, the minister clarified that Turkey has no intention of using force against countries that do not threaten it.

"If it concerns another country, it is important that instability does not arise there. If an unstable situation is created in a neighboring country, which may also threaten us, we will not remain indifferent. In that case, we will take the necessary steps, including diplomatic ones," Fidan explained.
