Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has stated that relations between Turkey and Armenia, and between Azerbaijan and Armenia, are not the EU’s business.
“The further the European Union is from these issues, the better for everyone,” he said.
Aliyev noted that he was surprised when he learned about the comments made by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen during a summit of Central Asian leaders and EU leaders in Uzbekistan. Von der Leyen had spoken about opening the borders between Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as Armenia and Turkey, to facilitate the development of the Middle Corridor.
“It was very strange because this corridor already exists, and Armenia has no role in it,” he stressed.
