"Azerbaijan will not implement the decisions of the European Court." Aliyev

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has announced that his country will not implement the European Court of Human Rights decisions. He explained that the reason is the suspension of the Azerbaijani delegation to the PACE.

“If the delegation does not participate in the sessions of the Assembly and cannot vote on the election of judges to the European Court of Human Rights, then the decisions of that court regarding Azerbaijan will be considered invalid. We are deprived of the right to vote. We did not vote for these judges, and we do not know who they are,” Aliyev noted.

In January 2024, the PACE refused to approve the credentials of the Azerbaijani delegation. Ninety deputies voted in favor of the resolution, 76 against, and four abstained.
