The European Union will have to buy $350 billion in energy from the United States to avoid tariffs imposed by Donald Trump, the US president said at a White House news conference, rejecting Brussels' offer to eliminate tariffs on cars and industrial goods if Trump does the same.
When asked by a reporter if that was enough for him to waive the tariffs, Trump said, "No, it's not enough."
"We have a $350 billion deficit with the European Union, which will disappear quickly. It can be eliminated very quickly and easily. They have to come and buy our energy... if they commit to buying that much energy, we can eliminate that $350 billion in a week."
