Russian Deputy Foreign Minister and Aliyev's representative discussed security issues in the South Caucasus

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin met with the Special Representative of the President of Azerbaijan for Special Assignments, Khalafov, who is in Moscow on a working visit. The Russian Foreign Ministry released a statement on this.

It is noted that the mutual commitment to further active joint work towards the progressive strengthening of relations between Moscow and Baku was confirmed by the Declaration on Allied Cooperation between Russia and Azerbaijan, which the top leaders of the two states signed on February 22, 2022.

"Issues of deepening political dialogue, expanding trade, and economic cooperation were discussed.

Particular attention is paid to the practical aspects of Russia's cultural, humanitarian, and informational presence in the republic.

The importance of joint work to ensure stability and security in the South Caucasus and the Caspian Sea region was noted. The meeting took place in a warm and friendly atmosphere that is traditional for relations between the two countries," the statement said.
