US President Donald Trump has threatened China with 50% tariffs on top of those already announced if Beijing does not drop its retaliatory tariffs.
“Yesterday, China imposed 34% retaliatory tariffs on top of its already record tariffs, despite my warning that any country that imposes retaliatory tariffs on top of its existing long-standing tariffs against the United States will face new, higher tariffs.
So, if China does not remove the 34% tariffs by tomorrow, April 8, 2025, the United States will impose an additional 50% tariff on China starting April 9,” he wrote on the Truth social network.
According to the US president, negotiations with Beijing regarding the meetings will be suspended if the Chinese authorities do not fulfill this condition.
