Trump removes several members of the Security Council

President Donald Trump announced on Thursday that he had fired several White House National Security Council members. The decision came after far-right activist Laura Loomer raised concerns with Trump the day before about staff members' lack of loyalty to the president.

According to multiple sources with the AP, Loomer urged Trump in an Oval Office meeting to remove staff members he felt were not sufficiently committed to his "Make America Great Again" agenda.

"We often fire people," Trump told reporters on Air Force One as he departed for Miami. "They could be people we don't like, people we don't think are doing a good job, or people who may be loyal to others."

Loomer took responsibility for the firings. In a late-night tweet, he said, "How do you know that the National Security Council staff I reported to Trump were disloyal and obstructed him?"
