Another aircraft carrier will join the Truman in the Red Sea

Defense Department spokesman Sean Parnell said that the USS Truman aircraft carrier will join the USS Carl Vinson in the Indo-Pacific region to continue its efforts to promote regional stability and protect trade flows.

The Pentagon did not specify when or where the two carriers will be deployed in its statement. The US Navy has about 10 aircraft carriers.

The announcement comes after Yemeni Houthi rebels claimed responsibility for several attacks on the USS Harry S. Truman in the Red Sea last month.
