Ilham Aliyev once again spoke about the two key conditions for signing a peace treaty with Armenia, which relate to the constitution and the OSCE Minsk Group.
“Our conditions are known to Armenia; they are not new. We have been putting them forward for a long time. However, we have not received a serious response from Armenia. First, abolishing the OSCE Minsk Group is necessary,” Aliyev said.
According to him, the Armenian constitution references the Declaration of Independence of Armenia, an integral part of the constitution.
“There is a provision there that the legal, historical territory of Azerbaijan is united with Armenia; this is an open territorial claim towards us. Therefore, removing this provision from the Armenian constitution is our legitimate demand. When these two conditions are met, there will be no obstacle to signing a peace treaty. As they say, the ball is in Armenia’s court. If Armenia wants to sign a peace treaty, it must accept these two legal conditions of Azerbaijan,” he emphasized.
