A group of American senators has prepared a bill to impose 500% tariffs on countries that buy oil from Russia.
Half of the US Senate, 25 Republicans, and 25 Democrats supported a bipartisan bill on primary and secondary sanctions against Russia if Moscow abandons peace talks in Ukraine or breaks the agreement.
The initiative group includes 50 Republican and Democratic senators, and the initiators are Lindsey Graham (Republican) and Richard Blumenthal (Democrat).
The document involves the introduction of "strike sanctions" on the import of goods, as well as restrictions against persons who support Russia's aggression against Ukraine.
The sanctions would be applied in the event of further violation of the peace agreement after it is reached.
The bill has not yet been submitted for discussion.
