Serbia and Hungary to form military alliance

Serbia and Hungary have finalized their strategic defense cooperation for 2025 and have planned a maximum number of joint events to bring the future military alliance between Belgrade and Budapest closer, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić announced.

Hungarian Defense Minister Krzysztof Szalai-Bobrovnički arrived in Serbia on Tuesday. Serbian Defense Minister Bratislava Gašić welcomed him at the Batajnica military airport near Belgrade. The Serbian President then received the Hungarian Defense Minister. In the presence of Vučić, the ministers signed the 2025 bilateral military cooperation plan and the document on the implementation of strategic defense cooperation between Serbia and Hungary.

"The Serbian and Hungarian defense ministries have planned 79 joint events, including military exercises, for 2025, a record number compared to 48 in 2023. This agreement on joint activities will contribute to the closer establishment of a military alliance or union between Serbia and Hungary," Vučić said.
