The EU may close the market to some American goods in response to Trump’s tariffs. This is reported by the Spanish newspaper El País.
The publication reports that the European Commission is considering not only symmetrical duties in response to Trump’s tariffs, which come into force on April 2, but also the complete closure of the European market to some American goods.
At the same time, there is no unity in the EU. Italy and France are taking a more restrained approach and are not ready to go beyond mirroring steps. However, as El País notes, the European Union does not set any “red lines” for itself in response to the US actions.
