US President Donald Trump has threatened Iran with a bombardment and secondary sanctions if Tehran does not reach an agreement with Washington over its nuclear program, Reuters reports.
"If they don't make a deal, there will be a bombardment. It will be a bombardment like they've never seen before," Trump said.
"There's a possibility that if they don't make a deal, I will impose secondary sanctions on them, like I did four years ago," he added.
Trump also told reporters: "We will probably wait a few weeks, and if we don't see any progress, we will apply sanctions. We are not applying them now. But if you remember, I did it six years ago, and it worked very well," he said.
Iran sent a response through Oman to Trump's letter calling on Tehran to sign a new nuclear deal, stating that its policy rejects direct negotiations with the United States under a policy of maximum pressure and military threats. Iranian President Masoud Kazakhstan reiterated that position on Sunday.
