Buckingham Palace said that King Charles was in hospital due to “temporary side effects” from cancer treatment.
The 76-year-old monarch underwent routine treatment on Thursday morning, requiring a “short stay in hospital for observation.”
“His Majesty’s afternoon engagements have been postponed,” a spokesman said.
The Guardian reports that the Queen did not accompany him to the hospital. However, after returning to Clarence House, the monarch was in good spirits and reportedly engaged in state business, working on documents and making phone calls from his office.
