Talks on restoring ceasefire in Gaza begin in Doha

According to Palestinian sources close to Hamas, talks between the Islamist movement and mediators from Egypt and Qatar began yesterday in Doha.

“A meeting between the Egyptian delegation responsible for the negotiations and the Hamas delegation in Doha took place this evening to conclude a final ceasefire agreement,” the source said. The source added that Qatari mediators also participated in the discussions.

“The mediators are conducting intensive negotiations with all parties to consolidate the ceasefire and move to the second phase of the agreement,” he added, stressing that Hamas has expressed its readiness to respond “positively” to any proposal that would end the hostilities.
