Netanyahu threatens to occupy Gaza Strip

Speaking before parliament, the Israeli prime minister said Israel would intensify its “pressure” on Gaza as long as Hamas refused to release Israeli prisoners.

“The more Hamas refuses to release our hostages, the more intense our pressure will be. This includes the seizure of territory and other things,” Netanyahu said.

There are still 59 prisoners in Gaza, of whom only 25 are still alive, according to Israel.

Hamas said today that if Israel tries to “forcibly” bring back its prisoners, they will be returned “in coffins.”
