Trump limits mail-in voting

US President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Tuesday, March 25, tightening voter registration controls in US states and restricting mail-in voting.

The president's move was unsurprised, as he has repeatedly expressed dissatisfaction with the current regulations.

Because of this, the US president has not yet recognized his defeat in the 2020 presidential election to Joe Biden and has condemned massive electoral fraud, especially in mail-in voting, a method widely used in the United States.

"Maybe some people think I shouldn't complain because we won a convincing victory last November. But we have to fix our elections. This country is sick with fraudulent elections. And we have to fix it somehow," Trump said when signing the executive order.

According to the executive order, proof of US citizenship, such as a passport or driver's license, will be necessary when registering to vote at the state level.

Only U.S. citizens can vote in federal elections, but not all states require such documentation; some places use other methods to verify voter identity.
