Reuters writes that the United States is trying to reach an agreement with Russia on a ceasefire in the Black Sea in the ongoing talks in Riyadh. According to the newspaper, the American and Russian delegations will discuss measures to reduce tensions, including establishing a “line of control” between the countries.
White House adviser Mike Waltz described this as “peacekeeping and freezing of current positions.” Confidence-building measures are also on the agenda, including the return of Ukrainian children illegally taken by Russia.
According to the agency’s source, the person preparing the talks noted that the American delegation is headed by Andrew Peake, a senior US National Security Council director, and Michael Anton, a senior State Department official.
