Egypt presents a new peace proposal

AP news reported that Egypt has presented a new proposal to restart peace talks between Israel and Hamas.

Under the proposal, Hamas would release five live hostages, including an American-Israeli citizen, in exchange for Israel allowing humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip and halting military operations for several weeks. In addition, Israel would release hundreds of Palestinian prisoners.

The talks were described anonymously because the discussions were confidential.

At least 25 Palestinians, including women and children, were killed in Israeli strikes in the Gaza Strip on Monday.
