Anti-government protests continue in Turkey after the arrest of Istanbul Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu, a rival of President Erdogan.
Imamoglu’s arrest comes amid days of protests by his supporters across Turkey, accompanied by mass arrests.
Hundreds of people have been detained across Turkey. Imamoglu is a leader of the main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP), which opposes President Erdogan, and was expected to be Erdogan’s main rival in the next presidential election in 2028.
