Kallas rejects Moscow's demands on Ukraine

EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas on March 19 rejected Moscow's demand to stop arms supplies to Ukraine.

Russian President Vladimir Putin had earlier, after a phone call with US President Donald Trump on March 18, presented the suspension of Western arms supplies to Ukraine as one of the conditions for stopping the 30-day attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure.

"If Russia achieves a situation where Ukraine no longer receives military assistance, it will be able to continue to act as it wishes because the Ukrainians will not be able to defend themselves," Kallas warned.

Commenting on the phone call between Trump and Putin, the EU's top diplomat noted that it clearly showed that Russia does not intend to make any serious concessions.
