There will be no complete cessation of hostilities in Ukraine. Russian Ambassador to the UK

Moscow will consider Washington’s proposal for a ceasefire in eastern Ukraine, but a complete cessation of hostilities will follow only after a peace agreement is reached.

The Russian Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Andrei Kelin, stated this in an interview with The Wall Street Journal on March 13.

“We are approaching this with great caution. We will stop hostilities when we reach a full, comprehensive agreement,” Kelin noted.

He added that Moscow’s skepticism about the possibility of a ceasefire stems from its previous experience in negotiations with the Ukrainian side.

On March 11, the Ukrainian authorities agreed to Washington’s proposal for a 30-day ceasefire, provided that Russia also agreed to it.
