Donald Trump has announced that the US will impose a 200% tariff on all EU wines, champagne, and spirits unless the 50% tariff on American whiskey is removed.
He also called the EU “one of the most hostile and aggressive tax and customs structures in the world,” created solely to benefit the US.
“If this tariff is not immediately lifted, the US will soon impose a 200% tariff on all wines, champagnes, and other spirits from France and other countries represented in the EU. This will be a very beneficial step for the wine business in the US,” the US president wrote on his page on the Truth social network.
