White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said U.S. National Security Adviser Mike Walz spoke by phone with his Russian counterpart on Wednesday as part of efforts to resolve the conflict in Ukraine peacefully.
“The president’s team continues to engage with the Russian side. National Security Adviser Mike Waltz spoke by phone today with his Russian counterpart to try to end this conflict and reach a peace agreement,” Levitt said on Fox News.
Earlier, the White House said that Ukraine had agreed to a ceasefire and a long-term peace plan, and Washington now expects Moscow to take similar steps.
