"I think I'll talk to Putin this week." Trump

US President Donald Trump has said that until Russia is convinced to establish a ceasefire, the conflict in Ukraine will continue.

"If we can convince Russia to establish a ceasefire, that would be great. If not, then the war will continue; people will die tomorrow and the next few days," he said.

The US president expects Russian President Vladimir Putin to agree to a ceasefire in Ukraine, noting that US officials will meet with the Russian side in the coming days.

"Ukraine has agreed to a ceasefire; now we have to get President Putin to agree to it to move this process forward. I think I will speak with Putin this week," Trump told reporters outside the White House.

He noted that US delegates are planning talks with the Russian side today or tomorrow to discuss the terms of a possible ceasefire. The US president also said he is ready to invite Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to the White House again.
