Today, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, the United States, and Ukraine have taken essential steps toward restoring lasting peace in Ukraine. Representatives from both countries issued a statement noting that it is time to begin a process for building lasting peace.
On behalf of the Ukrainian people, the delegation once again expressed profound gratitude to President Trump, the U.S. Congress, and the people of the United States for the significant progress made toward peace.
"Ukraine has expressed its readiness to accept the U.S. proposal for an immediate temporary, 30-day ceasefire, extendable by mutual agreement of the parties, with simultaneous acceptance and implementation by the Russian Federation. The United States will convey to Russia that reciprocity on the part of Russia is the key to achieving peace.
The United States is immediately lifting the freeze on intelligence sharing and restoring security assistance to Ukraine.
The delegations also discussed the importance of humanitarian efforts as part of the peace process, particularly during the ceasefire above, including the exchange of prisoners of war, the release of detained civilians, and the return of forcibly displaced Ukrainian children.
The two delegations agreed to determine the composition of their negotiating teams and immediately begin negotiations to achieve a sustainable peace that ensures Ukraine's long-term security. The United States committed to discussing these specific proposals with Russian representatives. The Ukrainian delegation once again emphasized that the peace process must include European partners.
Finally, the two presidents agreed to conclude a comprehensive agreement as soon as possible on the development of Ukraine's significant mineral resources to strengthen Ukraine's economy and ensure its long-term prosperity and security," the statement said.
