Ukraine has become the world’s largest arms importer in recent years, according to a new report by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI).
According to the study, over the past five years, the volume of arms supplies to Ukraine has increased almost 100 times compared to the previous similar period. As a result, Ukraine occupies 8.8% of the global market for the import of heavy weapons, including tanks, destroyers, and submarines.
After Ukraine, the list of major arms importers includes India (8.3%), Qatar (6.8%), Saudi Arabia (6.8%), and Pakistan (4.6%).
