Pope Francis addressed the faithful who gather daily in St. Peter's Square in the Vatican for the first time since his hospitalization. In a short audio message from the hospital, he thanked them for their prayers, the Vatican press said in a statement.
"I express my heartfelt gratitude to you for your prayers for my health from St. Peter's Square. May God bless you, and may the Virgin Mary protect you. Thank you," Francis said.
