Abramovich's billions to Ukraine remain frozen

Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich’s billions earmarked for Ukraine aid are still unaccounted for. The £ 2.5 billion from the sale of Chelsea football club was supposed to go to Kyiv to provide humanitarian assistance.

The Times reports that Abramovich was forced to sell the club in 2022 after the UK government imposed sanctions on him over Russia’s large-scale invasion of Ukraine. The billionaire has pledged to donate all proceeds to a war victims’ relief fund.

The House of Lords’ European Affairs Committee earlier reported that the money had been frozen in a UK bank account amid disagreements over where it should be spent.
