The dispute between Ukrainian and US Presidents Volodymyr Zelensky and Donald Trump during a meeting at the White House may have been deliberately provoked by the American side.
This opinion was expressed by the future Chancellor of Germany, Friedrich Merz, who wrote Bild.
“I believe this meeting in the Oval Office was not a spontaneous reaction to Zelensky’s words but a provoked attack. I was a little surprised by the tone of the conversation - it did not bring anything useful,” Merz said.
He expressed confidence that the rhetoric used during the meeting with Zelensky fits into the general behavior of the new US administration.
“What we have just seen in Washington has a certain continuation in the chain of events of the last few weeks, including the appearance of the American delegation in Munich at the security conference,” Merz added.
