Hungary blocks new military aid package for Ukraine. Politico

Politico reports that Hungary has blocked a draft EU document that would have provided security guarantees for Ukraine and a new package of military aid.

At a meeting of EU ambassadors on Friday, Hungary blocked a draft text on Ukraine that included wording on security guarantees that the European Union could provide to Kyiv and a new package of military aid.

The decision has sparked a wider split among EU countries over their approach to supporting Ukraine during the war.

In turn, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico announced that his country would refuse further financial or military assistance to Ukraine.

Fico also rejected the West’s so-called “peace through force” option, which he believes is an unrealistic policy.
