Yesterday, it was emphasized that a new era of inhumanity has begun, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said, referring to the heated conversation between US and Ukrainian Presidents Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky.
"Our indignation is greater today than ever. We have a duty to the Ukrainian people, our security, and the peace of Europe so that we will stand firmly by the side of a sovereign and free Ukraine," Baerbock said.
She emphasized that Ukraine is part of a free and democratic Europe.
"Who is the brutal aggressor in this war against Ukraine, and who is the brave defender? Who is the culprit, and who is the victim? This is clear. No one wants peace as much as the Ukrainians," she said.
According to Baerbock, US diplomatic efforts are essential, but peace must be peaceful.
"In all this, it is important to remember that we do not have time to delay. We must act quickly, both at the European and national levels. We cannot wait for a new federal government to form because the situation is serious. At this historic moment, Germany must lead the way," he said.
