US President Donald Trump on February 27 extended for another year several sanctions imposed against Russia in response to its actions in Ukraine.
“These restrictions should remain in effect after March 6, 2025,” says an explanatory note posted on the United States Federal Register website.
It lists the sanctions imposed in 2014, 2018, and 2022 by executive orders of various US presidents: Barack Obama, Trump, and Joe Biden. If the first of them were a response to the annexation of Crimea, then in 2022, restrictions were introduced against the backdrop of Russia’s large-scale military invasion of Ukraine.
