Merz confirms talks with Social Democrats

Friedrich Merz, the CDU/CSU chancellor candidate who won Germany's parliamentary elections, confirms that talks with the Social Democrats have begun to form a coalition.

"I can't say anything about the content of the talks today because it's still early, but I think the talks will intensify in the coming days," Merz said.

Merz says his priorities are Germany's foreign and security policy, migration, and the economy.

Recall that on February 23, special elections to the Bundestag were held in Germany, where the conservative coalition, the Christian Democratic Union/Christian Social Union, led by Friedrich Merz, won.
