"Ukraine should forget about NATO." Trump

US President Donald Trump has announced that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will arrive in Washington on Friday to sign an agreement on Ukraine's natural resources, including rare earth metals.

"It is confirmed; we will sign an agreement, which will be very important. However, the United States will not make too many promises to Ukraine regarding security guarantees. We plan to entrust that to Europe, but we will do everything possible to ensure everything goes smoothly," he said.

According to Trump, Ukraine should forget about NATO because the conflict began precisely because of this issue. He also called Russian leader Vladimir Putin "a brilliant man" and hoped a deal would be made on the Ukraine issue.

"He is a brilliant man, very cunning," Trump said, adding that Putin "will have to make concessions" as part of a possible agreement to resolve the Ukrainian conflict.

The US president also said that lifting sanctions against Russia is not an option now, as the Ukrainian conflict must first be resolved.

Trump also said that Washington would decide to impose a 25 percent tariff on EU goods, including cars. He also accused the EU of being hostile to the US.

"Let's be honest, the European Union was created to deceive the US. That's their goal, and they succeeded. But now I'm president," Trump said.
