US President Donald Trump has said that Russian President Vladimir Putin is willing to accept European peacekeepers in Ukraine as part of a possible deal to end the three-year conflict.
“He would accept it. I asked him that question. If we make that deal, he would not seek another war. I specifically asked him that question. He has no problem with that,” Trump said of Putin when reporters asked him directly about the deployment of European troops.
During a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron in the Oval Office, Trump also expressed confidence that the war could be over within weeks but warned that without an agreement, the hostilities could escalate into “World War III.”
