Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will leave for Iran on a working visit today at the invitation of Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
"The heads of the foreign ministries of the two countries will discuss in detail the agenda of Russian-Iranian relations, which have reached the level of strategic partnership after the signing of the interstate agreement in January 2025," the statement said.
During the talks, special attention will be paid to expanding trade and economic cooperation through joint programs in the energy and transport sectors.
Issues related to Syria and the South Caucasus will also be among the topics to be discussed.
Sergey Lavrov was on a working visit to Turkey yesterday, where he met with Recep Erdogan and Foreign Minister Fidan. The situation in the South Caucasus was also among the topics discussed.
