The Russian-Ukrainian conflict could escalate beyond a confrontation between the two countries and lead to World War III. Still, US President Donald Trump said on Monday that the United States will not allow such a scenario.
“This will lead to World War III if it is not resolved. There will come a time when everything will not stop only in these two countries. Many other countries are already involved in the conflict... We will not let that happen,” Trump said.
He added that the United States is “helping Ukraine like no one has ever helped before” while insisting that the conflict could end within weeks. He hoped Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky would visit the Oval Office to sign a peace agreement.
Trump also said that Ukraine could return some of its territories but did not give a clear answer to the question about possible concessions from Kyiv: “We’ll see.” Trump added that Russian President Vladimir Putin is not opposed to the deployment of European troops to Ukraine as part of a peace agreement.
