Georgian Parliament copied American FARA

The Georgian parliament has registered a new law on foreign agents, an exact copy of the US FARA law.

“The essence is that the translation of the American FARA is presented down to every word, period, and comma,” said parliament speaker Shalva Papuashvili.

The Georgian parliament had earlier adopted its version of the law, which was less similar to the American version, but this did not satisfy the opposition. The state version provides for the status of foreign agents, even for individuals sponsored from abroad.
