The Israeli army will maintain its presence in the Syrian-controlled Golan Heights and the surrounding buffer zone indefinitely, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced in a speech to graduates of an officer training course.
"The Israel Defense Forces in Syria will remain on the summit of Mount Hermon and in the buffer zone indefinitely to protect our communities and deter potential threats," he said.
