France hands over control of military camp to Ivory Coast

RFI reports that France has officially handed over control of the Port-Boué military camp to the Ivorian army.

A special ceremony was held, attended by French Armed Forces Minister Sébastien Lecornu and his Ivorian counterpart, Tené Birahim Ouattara.

Until now, the base was home to the French 43rd Marine Infantry Battalion (BIMA).

The Port-Boué camp has been renamed the General Thomas-d’Aquin Ouattara camp in honor of the Ivorian army's first Chief of General Staff.
