The Guardian reports that US National Security Advisor Mike Walz told Fox News that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky should "moderate" his criticism of the United States and "take seriously" the proposed deal.
The deal involves the transfer of $500 billion in financial resources, including oil and gas, to Washington.
Walz said Kyiv was wrong to oppose the US president's approach to peace talks with Moscow, given all that the US has done for Ukraine. He rejected accusations that the US had ignored Ukraine and America's European allies by excluding them from talks with Russia this week. It was typical "shuttle diplomacy," he said.
"Some of the statements coming out of Kyiv and the insults directed at President Trump were unacceptable," Walz later told reporters at the White House, adding: "President Trump is, of course, very disappointed with President Zelensky now for not sitting down at the negotiating table and not wanting to take advantage of the opportunity we offered."
