UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer spoke by phone with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, the UK Government Office reported. He expressed support for Zelensky in response to criticism from former US President Donald Trump.
Starmer noted that Zelensky is a democratically elected leader and that a temporary suspension of elections in a state of war is an “absolutely reasonable” step.
At the same time, Starmer stressed the importance of US efforts to establish lasting peace in Ukraine.
