Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said he hopes for pragmatism and a “constructive” approach in relations with the United States.
“We stand firmly on our own two feet. I hope for Ukrainian unity, our courage, the solidarity of Europe, and the pragmatism of America because America needs success as much as we do,” Zelensky said in his evening video message.
He said he would meet with Keith Kellogg, the US special representative for Russia and Ukraine, on Thursday. He stressed that “it is essential for us that this meeting and cooperation with America be constructive.”
“With America and Europe, the world can be safer, and this is our goal. Success unites us. Our unity is the most reliable protection for our future: a future without Putin, but in peace,” he said.
Zelensky made these statements after US-Russian talks in Saudi Arabia this week.
