A few days before the Bundestag elections, the right-wing populist Alternative for Germany party called on Germany to stay out of the war in Ukraine.
“This is not our war,” said party co-founder and honorary chairman Alexander Gauland.
During the speech, Gauland said that Russia’s war in Ukraine was “wrong and unjust” but that it was a war between Russia and Ukraine, not Russia and Germany.
“Ukrainian leader Zelensky wants to draw us into the war, claiming that he is also defending our freedom.”
